extreme makeover
I got to do a little shooting last week at the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build going on in Mobile, for a behind the scenes DVD being put together for all the volunteers (I actually got kicked out of Ty’s secret room by Ty himself… good stuff). Â It’s amazing to see a community rally together for a family in need. Â Here are some pics (the Gaudet family, before and after). I know the outside doesn’t look as amazing as most of their houses look, but the inside is… trust me.
The project manager for Heritage Homes (the builder) goes to Bay and he informed me of the amount of people they had to have to be able to complete the build (which actually happens in 4 days) and its staggering.  The list went something like this, 41 sheetrock hangers, 37 plumbers, 52 electricians… you get the point.  What’s so interesting about this whole show is that ABC or the production company Lock & Key are only facilitators, its the local community and tradesmen that do all the work.  And it’s rival companies that are competitors every other week that come together for this one project for the good of a family that they don’t even know.  What a picture of what the local church should be (except for the competitor part). But what if the local churches in any community across the world could drop their differences long enough to help those in need right in their own backyards.  Just think of the impact the church as a whole could have.  The lives that could be changed and not just in the number of conversions, but in the quality of life for our neighbors and families. Isn’t that what the church is all about.
The episode airs either the end of March or the beginning of April, so be sure to watch.
