what if you were alive?

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs.  Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go and do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

I don’t remember who said it, (if you do, leave it in a comment) but it’s one of those things that has stuck with me. It causes me to re-evaluate where I am and what I’m doing every few months or when things are rough and unexpected.

Most likely at one time in life there was something you were passionate about, some desire that crept into your heart from time to time.  It seems to come and go at will, but it’s always there, just bugging or even taunting you.  What if we could dig that one thing up, find it underneath the ruble of our lives.  What if we were to embrace that one desire, would we then discover the secret to our existence? And how would that affect our world?

No… how would that affect my world? If I’m alive, how does that affect my family, my relationships, those things that are most important to me. How does it affect my ability to relationally share the love of Christ?

Do you know what would make you come alive?

sometimes I wonder how differently life would feel if I really dug that “one thing” up and ran with it. I wonder if I’ve ever truly lived. Probably won’t know until I pick it up and run with it, huh?
