location scouting – theres an app for that

// July 7th, 2009 // No Comments » // apple, creative, film, photography

Over the last month, I’ve been working with a couple of guys on producing a short film (I’ll post more details on the project a little later). Today, we hit downtown Mobile scouting locations and getting a little b-roll/test footage in prep for our principal shoot later in the month. I took tons of shots on my iPhone, and I thought a few of them turned out pretty rad (all of these were shot and edited using apps on my phone).

holiday highlights

// December 31st, 2008 // 2 Comments » // apple, family, random foolishness

Ok, I’m back… took a much needed break for the holidays from both blogging and work. It was awesome. Since you’ve missed me, I thought I’d give ya a few highlights from Team Taylors Rockin Christmas.

  • Spending time with my girls tops the list easily.
  • Bella ate Ho-Ho’s cookies. We only had 2 and after she put one on the plate she said, “I weal hungy” and we told her couldn’t have one coz they were for Ho-Ho so she licked it. Too cute.
  • Due to my own stupidity I caused myself to bleed twice on Christmas Eve. (whats the flippin deal with the packaging of these toys and why’s my brother-in-laws knife so sharp?)
  • Beck got me the perfect gift. Perfect. (Is it wrong to love an inanimate object?) I’ve wanted one for a long time.
  • I got Beck the perfect gift, even though she says I got it more for me than her. eh, maybe shes right. And yes, of course I got the HD one.christmas_story
  • Got my new MacBook Pro in on the 26th, and dang this thing is bad.
  • Mrs. Barbs cookies and Christmas treats! Ah-maz-ing!
  • Went out with a bunch of friends to see A Christmas Story at the Saenger Theatre in downtown Mobile. (deck the halls with boughs of horry, ra ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra)
  • Sunday night before Christmas we celebrated my grandparents 60th anniversary. Wow.
  • We were blessed with a brand new beta fish (that bella named fishy) that we got from a dirty santa game that went terribly wrong.
  • And our favorite Christmas pic this year is our monkey faces.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, give me a few of your highlights.

See ya next year!

my first mac

// June 20th, 2008 // No Comments » // apple, church, technology

I was in the youth sound booth the other day for some reason, and I saw this bad boy which brought back some good memories. This Powerbook G4 was my first Mac, I got it around 2002 and its served us very well. Its worked its way down the ranks, and basically become a 15″ iPod (I need to pick them up an armband for it, that would rock). Yep its been reduced to running iTunes for the youth and children, and knowing it as well as I do, I’m sure it does a bang-up job at whatever is thrown at it.

It’s kinda cool to walk around the office and see history lying around in the form of out-dated gear and technology. I like seeing how far we’ve come as the church, and that we are serious about affecting culture through the language it speaks. When I’m frustrated about how slow I feel we’re moving, it reminds me that we are moving faster than we’ve ever moved to engage our culture in new ways. Thats pretty rad.

I’m a little late on this…

but if you’ve got an iPhone or iPod touch, you can now check out my blog and see it reformatted to fit your phone.

The best part is, its really easy! So easy I could do it. If you want to make iPhone users happy and if you use wordpress, install this little plugin and wala… its magically delicious.

Looky Looky what Microsoft uses for presentation. I wonder if they’re running ProPresenter.

iphone in the hopper

iphonehopperThis is what you get for the guy that has everything. I came across it on TUAW, it’s by Naja King, and its not limited to throne room use only… the coil is 3 feet long and it’ll wrap around anything and hold your iPhone in place, so your hands are freed up. In this case thats probably a good thing.
