beck’s other man

I’d love to think that I was her number 1 crush, but that may be wishful thinking. She’s got some pretty serious crushing going on for Mr. Lenny Kravitz. But I’m ok with it because, number 1, I snagged her first (sucka), and 2nd I’ve got a little somethin’ for Angelina Jolie so it balances out quite nicely. Needless to say, we’re big Lenny Kravitz fans around our house, luckily I like him a lot too. So for Valentines this year I got her his newest album (how great a husband am I uh) and there were some surprises on it. Check out the lyrics from the title track ‘Love Revolution.’

This is the time, This is the vibe
Don’t you want to get onto the ride
Come on inside, From the outside
The truth will set you free and you will find
That there is a love
That won’t let you down
And it always holds ground
Wear your crown
This love will never leave you
This love will never let you go

It is time for a love revolution
It is time for a new constitution

You are a child of the most high
There’s nothing you can’t do and that’s no lie
You were designed to use your mind
To move what you can’t see so don’t be blind
‘Cause there is a love
That won’t let you down and it always holds ground
Wear your crown
This love will never leave you
This love will never let you go

It is time for a love revolution
It is time, it is time, for a new constitution

better late than never

We went back down to the condo in Orange Beach for a few days last week with Shannon and fam, we had a great time, it just wasn’t long enough. As you can see we got a caricature of Bella done, I think its pretty darn cute.

Being down there reminded me that I still hadn’t posted our pictures from the last time we were there, which was over a month ago. So I thought today was as good a day as any.

There are a few below, the rest you can check out here.

grill man

Filed Under (family, random foolishness) by trey on 04-06-2008

I officially got my man-card last Friday. I’m now the proud owner of a grill. Beck got me my Fathers Day present a little early. Apparently I’m not man enough to get a charcoal one, but I thought I needed training wheels first so I went with gas. So far so good. I grilled burgers Friday with Shannon and his girls, but tonight we took it to a whole ‘notha level… Rosemary Salmon with Lemon. It was extremely easy (obviously since I was able to do it), and it was awesomely scrupcilious. So good in fact, I thought I’d share the recipe.

The Goods:
4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon minced fresh rosemary leaves
8 lemon slices (about 2 lemons)
1/4 cup lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
1/2 cup marsala wine
4 teaspoons capers

The Directions:
Brush the top and bottom of the fillets with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and rosemary. Put each piece of the salmon on a piece of foil large enough to fold over and seal. Top each fillet with 2 lemon slices, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of wine, and 1 teaspoon of capers. Wrap it all up tight in the foil and throw it on the grill at about 400º for 10 minutes.

Boom your done. Its that easy.

There you have it, give it a whirl and let me know what you think.

Oh yea, I think my man-card was revoked tonight, I tweeted a confession…

So I guess the man-card was short lived. Doh!

i’m in love with this girl

I’m interrupting my regular scheduled programming because this is just that important. Today, the women of my dreams is having a birthday. So I just wanted to take a minute and wish her the happiest of happy birthdays. I thought Gavin’s words fit better than my own…

I’m in love with a girl who knows me better,
Fell for the women just when i met her,
Took my sweet time when i was bitter,
Someone understands,
And she knows how to treat a fella right,
Give me that feeling every night,
Wants to make love when i wanna fight,
Now someone understand me,
I’m in love with a girl

I’m sooo in love with this girl its not even funny!

Beck, I love you and I hope you have the best birthday ever!

it’s not easy

It’s not easy being a mother. If it were easy, fathers would do it.   -The Golden Girls

I’ve spent quit a few hours lately ‘being mom.’ And I’ve got to say its not easy.

At all.

I love my little girl more than anything in this world. And still it’s not easy.

Because I’m not a mom.

My wife is one of the most amazing people in the entire world. She loves in ways that I’ve never seen love demonstrated. And what’s even more amazing is that it was from day 1. One day she was just a woman, and the next she was an amazing mom. Just like that, overnight. It comes so natural to her, the patience, the gentleness, the wisdom… its like she’s taken a class or something. But she didn’t have to, she’s just a mom, to her core that’s what she is. And she’s great at it. Bella will grow up to be a wonderful woman of God because of her mothers example. It’s a beautiful thing.

Oh yea… and she’s smokin’ hot!

I love you Beck! Happy Mom’s Day!

my new ride

Filed Under (faith, family) by trey on 18-04-2008

Beck and I have been juggling 1 car for over a year now.  Its been tough. Like crazy tough. It’s a good thing we only live a few blocks from the church so its been easy to bum rides off Shano (thanks man). And last week that all changed…

Last week, my uncle hooked me up with this beautiful ‘96 Toyota Avalon. Thats right… hooked me up, as in gave it to me. After changing over the title and getting the tag, it cost me $42.07… sweet. What a blessing. God rocks, plain and simple.

And I get to join the Junky Car Club. Nice.
