If you’re in the church media field at all you should already be into the new magazine Collide (if not you really should be). But you may not be into the blog yet which is also really great, especially the latest that Scott McClellan posted. And their design work is amazing, check out the new issue’s cover here.

HD DVD - going down in flames

Filed Under (technology, video) by trey on 16-02-2008

HD DVD took another major hit this week, Wal-Mart announced they will no longer sell HD DVD’s but only its competitor Blu-Ray.  It’s not really surprising after the year they’ve already had (the first week of January Warner Bros announced they would be going Blu-Ray exclusive).  Also both Netflix and Best Buy are backing Blu-Ray, and its looking like both Paramount and Universal will go that direction very soon. So who will be left?  No one.  It’s speculated that even Toshiba will soon drop its own format very soon. So I guess I really jumped the gun on getting the HD DVD player about 2 months ago… good call right?  So I guess its time to go shopping again.

I finally broke down and bought some good ears for my iPhone.  I got these Ultimate Ears…

So far they are really great, but I thought the packaging was interesting. Apple sent them to me in a box that 30 pairs could’ve fit in… umm, not thinking thats all that green.  I still love ya Apple.

I’m totally stoked about the new addition to our website, Jeff whipped up this little beaut yesterday afternoon for all of our iPhone users (probably like 5).  You can go to bay-community.com/iphone on your iPhone and from there send an evite to a friend, listen to sermons, give (which is down temporarily), and see the weeks calendar.  Plus if you save the site to your home screen as a webclip its got a pretty slick icon that comes along with it.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

• Starting in February, CBS will begin airing one of my favorite shows on TV… Dexter.  Due to the writers strike and the need for fresh content they’ve decided to run the show which normally airs on their sister network Showtime.  If you haven’t seen it, this is a great show. (starts 02/17)

• Have you seen Panasonics new 150″ plasma… check it out here.

• This is ‘Sweatin’ to the Oldies’ 20th anniversary, and to commemorate the occasion Richard Simmons was his normal freaky self on the Today show.

• How would you feel about Fight Club the Musical… yep, it looks like it’ll be making it to the Great White Way with Trent Reznor on board.

Fake or Foto.  Can you tell the difference between CG images and real photos?

• Warner Brothers goes Blu-Ray Exclusive… another one goes blu, maybe getting my HD DVD player wasn’t the best move.

king of the wii

Filed Under (family, random foolishness, technology) by trey on 01-01-2008

Happy New Year everybody, tonight Beck and I played Wii with our friends Shannon and Kristi and I’ve got to say, I rocked the joint.  I haven’t played a lot yet, and honestly I haven’t played many video games since college, but I think I’m addicted. So I’m thinking that’ll be the next big purchase for the Taylor home.  In Wii world I am 38 according to my fitness score… which is not great, but its better than Shannon’s 73 (sorry man).  Leaving tonight Beck said she would only allow us to get one if we put boundaries on it because she’s worried I’ll be obsessed “like I am with my iPhone.”  Ahhh women, they just don’t get it.
