the brighter CD giveaway!

Everybody likes free stuff right? Well today, I’m giving away a free download of The Brighter’s (our youth worship band) new album “To The City.” Couple of things… first, this album is truly amazing. My faves are How He Loves, Completely, & Your Name High, trust me, you’re gonna wanna hear it. Secondly, the guys have 3 original songs on the album, and I think every worship leader should check them out, all 3 are great worship tunes (Brighter, To the City, & Completely).

So here’s the deal, I want to give a copy away… today! So, lets keep it simple, leave a comment if you want to be entered in the drawing. Be sure to enter your email address. At 5:00p (central) today, I will throw the names in a hat and see who gets lucky.

Also, check the vid below, its from the night of the recording and its the first track off the album. I had the privilege of editing this little bad boy and I think it turned out pretty awesome. Its also available for free download at the bands website, as well as an option to purchase the album (if you don’t win it here of course).

the balloon

‘The Balloon” was screened last night in the beautiful Cathedral Square at the launch of the first SoAL Film Fest (read yesterdays post for more info). I’m so pumped to let you all know that ‘The Balloon’ won the scramble, we took 1st place baby! So huge congrats are in order to the team, everyone did a great job. So here’s the film… hope you enjoy!

mobile campus update

We aren’t sure yet what we will call our 3rd location, but so far we’ve been simply calling it our Mobile Campus. Eventually, once we’ve locked in the area that it’ll be, we’ll give it a little more specific name. So far it sounds like its a mobile campus (especially for you out-of-towners), but I assure you its not. Its our Mobile (as in Alabama) Campus, and it will be somewhat mobile because for the first 6 months it will be a portable campus. Sounds like fun uh. We can’t wait. We are aggressively working on a location and I hope that we’ll be able to let the deets out of the bag soon.

Also, we’ve brought on (technically he comes on next week) our Campus Pastor for the Mobile Campus, I’m extremely proud to introduce Tim Gautreaux, who will be coming on staff to take the DNA of Bay across the pond to do something amazing, something different in the Mobile area. Tim’s a rad dude, we are so excited about him joining our team. Check the video below to get to know him.

I love Vimeo. Just needed to get that out. Anywho, I came across this beautiful stop motion piece that I needed to share. Olympus put this together as promotion for their camera, the PEN. They shot 60,000 stills, then developed the 9,600 pics you see, then reshot another 1,800 pictures. The crazy thing is that there was no post production. Whaaaa! Yea its pretty cool… also you can download the music free here. Enjoy.

Last night I was watching a few shows on hulu and this commercial ran before one of the shows and I thought it was brilliant. Obviously I don’t endorse the product, but the creativity of the spot is worth sharing.

She gets these mad skillz from me. What can I say. She had an opportunity with both an audience and Mark’s beautiful “peenano,” how could she not jump all over that. She rocked an original or two and she even threw a bit of Yancy’s Praise Party in there. But by the end of her performance, I think she may have let it all go to her head.

Check it out… next Wednesday, we will be recording our first live album for both a CD & DVD release of our youth worship band, The Brighter. These guys are incredible, I can’t wait for you worship pastors/leaders to get your hands on some of their songs. Trust me, its really great stuff!

We’ve been prepping this concert for a couple of weeks now getting everything ready and of course we aren’t there yet, but we are close. Next week I’ll post some stills of the show as well as rough cuts throughout the post process. If you’re local or even semi-local you need to be here, next Wednesday at 7p! the creative republic

As any other creative, I’m always looking for inspiration. And you know as well as I do, sometimes it comes in the strangest forms. But one thing is for sure, we are always looking for it, something that will inspire us to dream and create. Tonight I came across a goody that I wanted to pass along. It’s a site called Creattica (crazy awesome title), it’s an amazing gallery of “great design and inspirational imagery.” They also have a Creattica Daily that features tons of news and links for creatives and designers just waiting to inspire. Check it, hopefully you’ll be inspired as well.

All I need – Honduras video

Two weeks ago, 65 of our Icon students went to Honduras on a missions trip. They ministered in orphanages, prisons/juvenile detention facilities, the city dump (where hundreds of kids live), and the bordo (which is one of the poorest areas in the hemisphere). They also held two concerts where over 15,000 students showed up to hear the gospel. Will put together this killer video that sums up the trip.

The song is One Republic’s ‘All I Need.’
