Ever wondered how well you would’ve fit in 30 or 40 years ago? Like whether or not you could’ve pulled off those hairstyles. Well, thanks to yearbookyourself.com now you can find out. Let me know which of my looks you like the best. It’s scary that 1998 is freakishly close to reality for me… I was a porker back then. Check’m out.

blue like jazz: the movie

Filed Under (creative, entertainment, faith, film) by trey on 19-08-2008

I’ve been hearing bits and pieces about the Blue Like Jazz movie for awhile now, and it makes me very excited for 2 reasons. 1, I loved the book, probably one of my favorite books of all time. Don Miller is a genius, and he put into words a lot of what I’d been feeling most of my life. 2, because I hate “Christian” movies. Thats right, you read it right, hate. They just suck. And I’m hoping that if anybody can change that, its Don Miller.

I’ve wondered how they would adapt a book of essay’s into a 3-act story, and today I came across the answer and I wanted to share it with you guys. If you loved Blue Like Jazz, you need to read this Q & A about the movie. Miller said,

It’s a movie about coming out of the closet regarding who you are as a person. The character happens to be a Christian and is very ashamed of that, but he’s able to come out of the closet by the end of it. It’s really a film more about a human being than it is about Christianity. Christianity is really just the thing that this human being is dealing with.

Don Miller

He also says that he’s fallen in love with screenwriting, and he plans to do a lot more, which really excites me. He’s exactly what Hollywood needs. The biggest drawback to the movie that I can see right now is that Steve Taylor will be directing. I’m not so sure about that, but I’m hoping that even with him at the helm, this is gonna be a great movie.

According to this article it looks like we can expect to see it hit theaters sometime during the first half of 2009.

You guys have got to check this video out by Manchester Orchestra, its really rad. But the video style is not the only thing I’m loving here, their music is awesome as well, these guys are sick. Plus, they’ve got a really cool site, and for an extra bonus they are going to be in b-ham this weekend, hotlanta next weekend, and Nawlins in October… I will definitely catch one of those shows (hopefully).

Catch the HD version here.

1. Arrested Development. Thanks to Wingo, Beck and I got hooked on Season 1 of Arrested Development and now I know what all the fuss was about when it was cancelled. This show is hilarious. I can’t wait for the movie next year!

2. Vampire Weekend. I’ve gotten hooked on this album, its a lot of fun (their name doesn’t fit at all). It’s got a Police vibe to it… its a very cool sound.

3. Burn Notice. I watched the pilot on USA last season and I didn’t care for it to much, but I gave it another chance and man am I glad I did. This show is really good, its packed with action, comedy, and a very unique premise. Its worth checking out, you won’t be sorry.

4. Phil Wickham’s Singalong. Singalong is live album that Phil did with a just a guitar at a church in Portland. The best part is that its free. Thats right free. Get it here.

5. Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. This is a different singalong than the one above, I posted a few weeks ago about how awesome these short films are, but they’re even better now because they are on hulu, for free. So check’m man.
