a white room

What could you do with a white room? Check this vid:

As soon as I saw this I was reminded of one of my favorite books, Twyla Tharps ‘The Creative Habit.’ In it she says that the most creative environment for her is a white room. Its a clean slate to her. This video takes that to another level. (in case you couldn’t tell, all the scenery/effects/clothes are added by projectors. Its just a white room with a few props)

What’s the most creativity inducing environment for you?

I want to be inspired

Today I’m headed to Dallas for Fellowship Church’s C3 Conference and I’m pumped.

I’m in a place right now where I’m looking for inspiration, a jumpstart for my own creativity. I’ve found myself being more of a manager and paper pusher lately than being creative which is what I was created for. So for the next 3 days I’m believing that God will shake something inside of me, that the stale creative passions that I’ve woken up to for so long will no longer be around. Do me a favor, say a prayer for me, without creativity and the desire to create I feel hopeless, and thats not what God had in mind when he designed me.

Here is the promo video for C3 – its gonna be amazing.

a new perspective

Its amazing how a new perspective can change everything.perspective_illusion_56464

Anytime Bella pitches a little toddler tantrum (which is almost never mind you – ha), she does the typical squeal, kicking, and of course the gymnast-like back bend. The last few times we’ve had this kind of quality time together and she gets to the part of the routine with that crazy back bend I’ve just started letting her. I used to try to stop her (mistake), hold her up and fight it, but the other day I decided to just let it be, and something amazing happened. She stopped crying. I noticed that she’d stopped because she was seeing those extremely familiar surroundings upside down. She had a new perspective and immediately she stop crying. It changed everything.

About a month ago, we played a little game around here called “musical offices” in which we basically just rearranged everyone’s world, and combined a bunch of offices into an open environment. So for the first time in 5 years I’m looking at new walls everyday, working in a brand new atmosphere, and its helped me tremendously. The change in my perspective and surroundings has helped me be more creative, more productive, and my days seem to moving a lot smoother.

Sometimes we just need a new way of looking at the world, a new lens to see it through, a fresh vision for what’s to come or even for where we are now.

How are you seeing your problems, your circumstances, or your future? How long are you gonna keep looking at them from that same ol’ perspective until you realize its just not cutting it anymore, maybe its time for a new way of seeing old things.

I love/hate Lost

losts5cast

I Love LOST

I love the way its written. I love the twist and surprises, the mystique and the unknown. I love how the first season was slow to start and ever since its gotten bigger and crazier than I could’ve ever imagined, which is one reason I’m hooked on Fringe, I’m expecting great things in later seasons. I love characters. Deep, rich, well written characters, you don’t find that well done too often on TV. If you’ve never seen Lost, you should, you’ll get hooked, its actually quite mind-blowing.

I Hate LOST

Its simple. The acting is terrible. There I said it, you can all breathe a deep sigh of relief. There are a few shining stars in this massive cast, but very few. Apparently the original plan was for Jack to die, dang that would been nice. He not only leads the survivors but also in the bad acting. The rest of the Oceanic 6 fall in right behind him, good thing they weren’t in last nights episode. Like I said, I love characters, its just a shame crappy actors like Josh Holloway have to play them.

Ok, so I don’t really hate Lost, its just a big pet peeve I had to get out there.

So where do you fall. Love? Hate? or Both? Spill it peeps.

Also, if you’ve already watched last nights ep, you should read this.
